07/12/04 Chevelle is still sitting without a powerplant the last blow up was a bit spendy. 08/12/03 Looks like there were some problems with the Chevelle! Take a look at the latest pictures to see the destruction. I will get with the guys and get the scoop. 11/13/02 The boys tucked the Chevelle away for the winter and would like thank everyone who came out and visited with the crew at tracks around the northwest. Thanks again.
08/26/02 Chris made three passes over the weekend and the car ran well! Two of the runs were in the 8.0's at 170mph and one in the 7.90's on Sunday. Steve was playing with a new fuel system tune trying to find the right setup and said the best is still to come! Stay tuned for the next race the guys will be attending. AM 08/15/02 The guys are getting the car ready for Super Chevy Weekend at Pacific raceways later this month. We should see several 7 second passes! 03/25/02 We rolled the car out the box for the first time in 2002 and displayed it at the 2002 Seattle Roadster Show. The car took some hardware home from the show but that will be the last of "show and shines" as this is a racecar! Time for rock chips, noise, and rubber on the wheelie bars! 02/18/02 The Chevelle will be on display at the 2002 Seattle Roadster Show in Seattle on March 7-10 so stop by and have a look! We are also going to have a booth with products from Mooneyes, Corbeau Seats, Moroso, and more so stop by and say hello! 07/24/01 Chris and Steve got the Chevelle back together and made the trip to Woodburn, OR. On their second pass some valve-train let go and the guys had to shut it down early. They are working through the valve-train bugs and should back out on the track in the coming weeks. I will get more details and post them as soon as I get them! 06/14/01 A small bump in the road for the G&M Crew as they hurt some engine components at Bremerton Raceway a couple weeks ago. Chris and Steve had the engine torn down and the damage assessed hours after the run and by Monday afternoon replacement parts were in route to the shop. The chevelle should be up and running big numbers in the coming weeks. 04/22/01 The team is ready for a season of racing after taking the car to the Seattle Roadster Show. 12/02/00 The G&M team are addressing a few concerns with the chevelle and are dipping into their bag of horsepower tricks in preparation for next season. Look for the G&M team to dip further into the 7's! -AM 10/17/00 Call it a season! The crew made a last blast at Mission B.C. Raceway for a sub 7.80's pass a few weeks ago. The air was great and the track was prepped for fast passes. The Chevelle made a 7.80's pass and things were looking good, Steve was about to put a tune on the Chevelle when Chris noticed the oil pressure gauge being "funny". After pulling the pan Chris and Steve found a cracked pick-up and no facilities to repair it, so they loaded the car in the trailer and headed home. The guys at G&M are looking forward to next season and invite fellow racers and fans to stop into the store and talk shop! -AM 09/20/00 WOW! Chris and Steve told me it hooked and left hard, but I was not prepared for last weekend at Bremerton! Sunday morning was cool and overcast as the crowd gathered, Chris drove into the staging lanes and rolled through the water box, a few seconds later the crowds heads snapped to the track in astonishment as Chris lit the tires up 1/4 of the way down the track, tire smoke rolling from behind the Chevelle. With tire smoke rolling out of the drivers door Chris backed up to the line, the tree went green and Chris carried the front tires past the bleachers at Bremerton Raceway on route to a 7.80's pass! This exhibition set the standard for the remainder of the day in the Outlaw Street class at Bremerton Raceway. In an 8 car field, the '67 Chevelle stood alone being the only door car running below 8 seconds. The final round pitted the G&M Honest Performance Chevelle against an fast Nova that had disposed of the remainder of the class earlier that day. However, Chris did not disappoint anybody as he made a massive burnout and drove the Chevelle out the back door to victory! -AM 06/29/00 The boys at G&M have been busy running the store, but managed to sneak away for a weekend of racing at Mission Raceway in Canada. Hoping to improve on the 7.94 e.t. pass laid down there earlier this month was job one! After a few fuel adjustments by Steve Grove and some great driving by Chris Martin the car ran deep into the 7.80's with a 7.85 and a 1.167 second 60 foot time. Chris explains " I am not sure the front tires broke the 60 foot beam and may have been the rear tires, as the car carried the front tires in the air approximately 150 feet, it was awesome"! This is impressive being that the car is all steel, weighing 500-1000 lbs more than other cars in Top Comp, and did I mention that it is street legal! Yes, that is a license plate (with current tabs), headlights and taillights (that work), and a passenger seat with seat belts! Talking to Steve he said "I am still working on some fuel delivery issues, but I think there is probably 100+ horsepower in tweaking the fuel system alone". -A.M. 06/03/00 Saturday at Bremerton Raceway we ran 8.14 e.t. and an 8.10 e.t. We pulled the pan at the track and the bearings looked good, but the magneto pick-up had broken. We headed back to the shop, welded the pick-up, and headed for Mission BC Saturday night and arrived around 1 a.m. We woke up the next morning and finished putting the car together, the air was much better in Mission that at Bremerton and we hoped for our first 7 second pass. First pass...7.94 e.t. @ 171 mph, I was hooping and hollering and jumping up and down! That pass qualified us number 5 in a 16 car field. First round some transbrake gremlins hit us and Chris red lighted, but that's racing! -"Super" Steve Grove 03/09/00 We had a great time at the show and captured first place in our class, and won Best Paint for a competition vehicle. We would like to thank all of you who attended the show and especially those who visited our booth and purchased merchandise, we couldn't do it with out you! If you did not get a chance to visit the booth come by our store and pick up a monthly add flyer. Many of the great deals we offered at the show are still active through the end of March. -A.M.
